Well, Monday saw my hernia finally poked back into my body for good.  Late last week received a letter in the mail saying to come on in and get yourself axed open and have your insides that come outside put back inside.

So early Monday morning we hit the road, got to Thames Hospital at 7:30, in theatre at 10, out and awake by 10:45, and out of hospital by 11:30.  Bloody efficient if you ask me!

So my hernia, which was sooooo large that the doctor said, "why are you bothering to get it fixed", is no longer.  No mesh patch needed, basically cut me open, poked the bugger back in, then stitched the gap up, and stitched me back up.

Spent yesterday doing bugger all, as it was a bit swollen and sore, but this morning up for our normal morning walk, no problems.  Think will have one more day off from gym work before heading back in tomorrow.  Obviously not going to be cranking out the big poundage on the legs to start with, will just up the rep range and see how heavy I can go on extensions before straining the belly!

So the '2 weeks off', and 6 weeks 'light duties' as mentioned by many will obviously not be adhered too.  However, I'm thinking that guidelines are for people who had decent sized hernias - not the bonsai -hernia like I had.  I mean, when the surgeon asks you why you are even bothering to get it fixed, it obviously is not too big a deal.  Just having to wait for the wounds to heal will be the main thing I expect.

So thus far, D-day +2 and all is well, 56 hours after being sewn back together.  Gutted too (hah, not literally), wanted to take the camera along, but bloody forgot it!
