Well, I am told it is about time I wrote this wee story for you all, especially considering I was asked to write it over 1 month ago and Deano was asked about 3 days ago and he has done his. Well done Deano, you are obviously eating more food than me, your energy level is clearly higher than mine!!!

I find it quite surreal to sit back and think about where I have come from and how I got here. I still remember the first day in the gym and the start of all this madness, I had to do a 5 minute warm up on the rowing machine, and after 2 minutes I thought I was going to die, I could not believe how unfit I was.

NAME: Vanessa Bartley aka (Ness)

BIRTHPLACE: Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand

BIRTHDATE: 14th September 1972 (much younger than my significant other)

HEIGHT: 160cm

RESIDENCE: Whangamata, New Zealand

MARITAL STATUS: To my ripped freak husband Jason just 3 years

CHILDREN: 1 wonderful daughter Renee aged 13

PETS: Panzer Grey, she really is the most spoilt cat, Gypsy my 15.2hh chestnut Mare, she my saving grace, a new foal due in six weeks, and a crazy new cat called Puzzle Duck.

FAMILY: A wonderfully supportive Mother

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: Love to ride my horse, grew up with horses, gave them up at 'discovering boys' age, love to play touch, squash and netball.

EDUCATION: Left school at the ripe old age of 15, the only thing I achieved there was saving the rat in our science class from dissection. Done many things since tried my hand at real estate, graphic design, dental hygiene and now finally followed my passion and became a Beauty Therapist.

OFF SEASON WEIGHT: Crickey, my body would like to be a bit heavier than I would like so, I try to keep in under control at about 60kg.

CONTEST WEIGHT: Have to come in under 54kg, loving that leaness

YEARS BEEN TRAINING: Been teaching Pump at the gym for about 2 years, but took up the serious stuff in April 09 when I gave up smoking and took up eating!

TRAINING PARTNERS: I have the good fortune of being able to train with Mr New Zealand Athletic my ever supportive husband Jason Bartley (Dean hands off, he's mine).

TITLES WON OR PLACED: Wellington NABBA comp 09 came 2nd 35+ figure, NABBA Nationals 09, came 2nd, pipped at the post both times. My hubby and I won the pairs at both comps. Auckland NABBA 2010 1st 35+ figure. Auckland INBA 2010 1st= Novice Figure. 2010 NABBA Asia Pacific 2nd 35+.figure. 2011 NABBA BOP 1st 35+ figure, 1st pairs. 2011 Wellington NABBA 2nd 35+ Figure and 2nd pairs. 2011 Nationals NABBA 2nd 35+ Figure and 2nd pairs. 2011 North Harbour NABBA 1st 35+ Figure and 1st pairs. 2011 Phil-Asia Championships, Cebu, Philippines, 5th Figure.
